Virtual Taekwondo in Bergen

Finally, the day had arrived!

The Virtual Taekwondo system had arrived, and the next item on the agenda was to find a club willing to participate and test out the system.

In collaboration with the Norwegian Martial Arts Federation, we were recommended a club in Bergen, as it was closest to us. The club's name was TIF Viking.

A date was set, and we were eager to meet them.

The equipment was set up and ready in TIF Viking's facilities. Refract in Singapore, the developers of Virtual Taekwondo, provided support via Teams to help us get the system up and running.

Now, it was time to test out Virtual Taekwondo.

Stian Lampe, the leader of TIF Viking Taekwondo club, and Karoline Gjelsvik, a Norwegian national Taekwondo athlete, were set to compete against each other.

In Virtual Taekwondo, althletes utilize VR headsets. However, a built-in feature allows them to see the surroundings even as the match unfolds in a virtual environment, offering a unique training experience. Both Karoline and Stian were eager participants, quickly grasping the instructions.

They were pleased with the system and noting its effectiveness as excellent cardio training. Both agreed that further exploration and regular testing were in order.
